Methodological Centre

The Methodological Centre for Open Air Museums at the National Open Air Museum is an expert platform for co-operation between open air museums and institutions of a similar nature in the Czech Republic. The centre conducts professional activities in education, research, publication and organisation in the sphere of open air museums.

The Methodological Centre for Open Air Museums has operated at the Wallachian Open Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm since 2013, and at the National Open Air Museum since 2018. Selected museum institutions established by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic are responsible for various specialisations that are most relevant to their activities. The Ministry of Culture aims to cover all the various segments of culture in this way in methodical fashion.

The Methodological Centre works with other open air museums in the Czech Republic and abroad and with other organisations with similar interests, such as the National Heritage Institute, the Czech Academy of Sciences, or Czech educational institutes. It also works intensively with the professional association the Czech Association of Open Air Museums.
